The Hot Toddy needs a warm mug, to begin with, and steaming hot water is poured into a mug and set aside for a minute or two. Meanwhile, a lemon wheel or peel is stuck with cloves and set aside. Now, the warmed up mug is emptied before refilling the mug with fresh boiling water until half full. Two teaspoons of brown or demerara sugar are added and stirred after which the lemon wheel or peel is added. The last bit of the preparation is adding a quarter ounce of fresh lemon juice and two ounces of bourbon, or Irish whiskey, or any scotch of your preference. There you go, now you could sit next to a fireplace and warm up during the cold wintery nights.

To prepare the butter batter, you must mix one pound of butter with one pound of brown sugar, refined sugar, one tablespoon of ground cinnamon, one teaspoon of ground cloves and one teaspoon of ground nutmeg together in a bowl and stir well. Then a quart of vanilla ice cream is added and stirred before storing it in a freezer. To make the cocktail, add one tablespoon of batter to two ounces of your favorite gold rum.
